Henry Pelham 2022 Speck Family Reserve Chardonnay

Grapes are sourced from the estate’s oldest vineyard on the Short Hills Bench, originally planted by hand in 1988. Yield was kept low to concentrate flavors. The wine is barrel-fermented in French oak, with some fermentation in large foudres, and aged on lees for several months to build texture.

This Chardonnay opens with aromas of white florals, ripe apple, pear, lemon curd, and touches of vanilla and caramel. On the palate it’s rich and creamy, with flavors of Bosc pear, baked apple, and tropical pineapple, balanced by fresh acidity and nuance of oak spice and minerality. The finish is elegant and lingering, with a subtle tension that keeps the richness in check.
