Mauro Molino Barolo

Mauro Molino Barolo

Spiced and racy Barolo with ripe red berries, spices, sandalwood and hints of white pepper. Medium-bodied with a dusty texture to its tannins and vivid acidity. Textural and polished, with citrus peel character at the end. Already attractive to drink. -James Suckling

Mauro Molino 2020 Barolo

The 2020 vintage in Barolo was marked by a mild spring followed by a warm, dry summer that provided ideal conditions for Nebbiolo. Timely rains in August refreshed the vines and ensured even ripening, leading to grapes with excellent phenolic maturity, balanced acidity, and refined tannins. Overall, 2020 produced Barolos of elegance and purity, combining approachability in youth with solid cellaring potential.

Tasting Notes & Serving Suggestions:
The nose opens with rose petals, violets, and wild strawberry, layered with notes of red cherry, licorice, and sweet spice. On the palate, it’s medium- to full-bodied, displaying flavors of pomegranate, ripe raspberry, and dried herbs, underpinned by fine-grained tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of cedar, tobacco, and truffle earthiness.
Serve at 18°C (64–65°F) in large, bowl-shaped Burgundy glasses to showcase its aromatics and complexity. Decant for 1.5 to 2 hours when drinking young to soften the tannins and open up the bouquet. Best paired with braised short ribs, truffle risotto, wild boar ragù, or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Enjoyable now with decanting, but it will continue to evolve gracefully for 12–15 years.
