However, with more refill bourbon casks in its recipe, this bottling invites more of Ardbeg’s bold spirit character to surge forth. Traigh Bhan’s trademark delicate balance meets ripples of olive oil and newly mown lawn grass, with classic Ardbeggian waves of tarry rope, peppermint, dark chocolate, soot and fennel. Aroma: A very curious hint of olive oil greets you, along with touches of tar, soot, chocolate ginger and even some freshly mown grass. Water opens the bouquet up to reveal some more classic Ardbeg notes, with fennel, peppermint, eucalyptus, and tarry rope to the fore. Taste: The mouthfeel is slightly oily, and is followed by an intense, minty sweetness, along with some toasting bread, creosote, coal tar soap and even a hint of smoked pineapple. The deep, rich, flavours continue, with dark chocolate, peppermint creams, bonfire embers and camphor. Finish: Reminiscent of coffee grounds and liquorice.
