Ardnahoe Bholsa: Islay’s Newest Star Shines Bright

Islay’s whisky landscape has a bold new addition. Ardnahoe Distillery, nestled between Caol Ila and Bunnahabhain, has unveiled its second core expression: Ardnahoe Bholsa. Named after the nearby Bholsa caves, this release encapsulates the distillery’s commitment to tradition and innovation.

A Symphony of Sherry and Smoke

Ardnahoe Bholsa is predominantly matured in Oloroso sherry casks, bottled at 50% ABV without artificial colouring or chill-filtration, ensuring a pure and authentic experience.

Nose: A rich blend of smoky peat, raisins, and the sweet influence of Oloroso sherry, complemented by vibrant notes of orange zest and walnuts.

Palate: Indulgent flavors of luscious ripe plums and dates, balanced by the distinctive warmth of Islay peat.

Finish: Long and peppery, leaving a lingering sherried character.

Following the distillery’s inaugural release in 2024, Bholsa stands as a testament to Ardnahoe’s dedication to crafting exceptional Islay single malts. With its harmonious balance of sherry sweetness and peaty depth, Bholsa is poised to become a staple for whisky enthusiasts.
